Big Data is the parents

Big Data is the parents

All areas have "gurus" who fill newspaper headlines and news headlines with predictions of what the next revolution will be in their field, but the technology sector is especially susceptible to this phenomenon. The infoxication that all these supposed experts generate fills our conversations with impossible concepts (always in English) and chimerical ideas. The crisis has caused their forecasts to almost always refer to the «employment deposits.

A clear example of these erroneous predictions is the Big Data. A thorough search for vacancies related to Big Data gives us the sad figure of 86 Work offers, almost all concentrated in Madrid and Barcelona, while we found 1,200 offers for waiters/waitresses on the same platform (despite the fact that it is not the usual channel to fill positions in hospitality).

This advanced mathematical strategy analysis tool is beginning to reach companies of a certain size, but it is still very far from SMEs, let alone the average citizen. We cannot deny the achievements it is achieving today in medicine, banking, public resource management or the fight against pollution, benefiting everyone. But it is also true that it creates very little employment and that the one that does create is highly qualified.

He Big Data it is the future, but not the present. There is still a long way to go before the Big Data machine is adjusted, oiled, expanded and economically viable.

In the meantime, we must innovate from a more practical perspective, for example through Industrial Monitoring, solving concrete and specific realities of society and companies that generate employment. Surely in the next decade the management of Big Data and Data Warehouse, but getting ahead of that is selling smoke.
