Applications of Pokémon Go to training for employment and marketing for SMEs
A social phenomenon, Pokémon Go, with an impact on training
The Pokemon phenomenon, about to surpass Twitter in number of active users and, more importantly, with average daily usage times greater than those of WhatsApp, has set off alarm bells.
Concern is spreading about the impact on the productivity of adults and, mainly, about the effect that September will have on the return of younger people to educational centers.
As always, some see the glass half empty and others, half full. In our case, it will be that we are excessively creative, we can think of many possibilities to apply to some of our activities, such as training, technology and marketing.
Here we leave you some:
- Pokestops: Thinking about education, and taking advantage of the fact that they are located in monuments and significant sites, we can ensure that for once the students feel motivated by the once boring cultural visits.
- On the marketing front, Nintendo announced a few days ago that it plans to monetize its services by allowing sponsored stops. Furthermore, nothing currently prevents anyone from engaging in guerrilla marketing by handing out flyers wherever there are large gatherings of hunters.
- Gamification: In principle it is an individual game, but any training action that wants to improve teamwork can organize collective street hunting campaignss, forging the collaboration of participants and as support for forums and fostering a sense of community.
- Learning scenarios: The use of augmented reality in teaching has been talked about for "decades," with theories surrounding the use of cumbersome devices and sophisticated environments. It turns out that, free of charge, we have a multi-platform, universal app for different target audiences that is crying out for educators to integrate it as another tool.
A little imagination, coupled with the crest of the wave that comes with Pokémon Go, opens up a world of possibilities where others only see drawbacks.
