Training as a second chance
The Spanish autonomous body for prison labor and training (OATPEE) under the Ministry of Home Affairs is in charge of the coordination and creation of training actions which enable the improvement of the employability and labor integration of inmates. One of these actions is the Training program of food handlers for persons deprived of liberty.
We do not like boasting, but around 5000 people have had access to a second chance in their social integration thanks to this program which we bade and developed.
In Spain, there is an inmate population of 65,017 people. Most of them do not have qualified training which allows them to have good opportunities in the labor market. One of the main actions social integration carried out by the Ministry of Home Affairs has been the Operational Program of “fighting against discrimination”
