In a decisive step towards the modernisation and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Spain, the educational innovation group Mainjobs has joined forces with the State Foundation for Training in Employment (FUNDAE) for an ambitious project financed by the European funds Next Generation EU. This programme, which will end in December 2025, seeks to train 8,000 workers from 2,000 Spanish SMEs through an innovative training catalogue adapted to the needs of 11 strategic sectors.
Specialized training for business progress
The main objective of the project is to identify and address the specific training needs of SMEs in key sectors, providing solutions adapted to the sustainability and internationalisation requirements of the market. To this end, two lines of action have been defined:
Transition towards sustainability, with specific plans for sectors such as energy, food industries, maritime and port activities, as well as fishing and chemicals, promoting more environmentally responsible production and consumption models.
Boosting internationalization, targeting areas such as mass distribution, transportation and logistics, finance, insurance and healthcare, seeking to open up new opportunities in global markets.
These plans not only aim to train workers, but also to advise company managers to ensure that the changes adopted are effective and sustainable in the long term.
The project is based on an exhaustive analysis of training needs, which represents the first phase already completed in the "Training Needs Study". This initial milestone has allowed us to identify the main barriers that SMEs face in their transformation processes, whether towards sustainable models or towards the opening of international markets.
Among the conclusions obtained, the difficulty of many companies to access specialized training and practical tools to implement strategic changes. On this basis, specific training actions have been designed that respond directly to these needs, guaranteeing their relevance and applicability.
Technology as an ally of training
One of the key elements of this project is technological integration through Digitalízate Plus, FUNDAE's e-learning platform. This tool will allow companies and workers to access personalized training itineraries from any device, eliminating geographical barriers and facilitating interactive learning.
The scope of this project is not limited to the business sector. Through training and specialized advice, it seeks to generate a positive impact on the Spanish economy, encouraging the creation of quality employment and promoting a more sustainable and competitive production model.
The national coverage of the programme ensures that both workers and companies in all autonomous communities can benefit, helping to reduce territorial and sectoral inequalities.
